440 vs 432

A wholly unscientific investigation into concert pitch, the blade of judgement, and what they aren't telling you.

This page contains pure tones. Do not operate heavy machinery while indulging.
The Boneless Council denies all knowledge of this document.

The setup

In 1939, an international panel decreed that A above middle C should ring at 440 Hz. Some say this was a metric correction. Others say it was a psy-op designed to keep the masses slightly restless, mildly suggestible, and perpetually overpaying for tuners.

The dissidents tune to 432 Hz, claiming it resonates with the heartbeat of the planet, the spiral of seashells, and the snoring of a well-fed corgi. Dr. Glund has no opinion. He simply hands you both tones and a blade.

Verdict

We have, after extensive listening and exactly zero peer review, concluded: both tones are real and both will haunt you. Use whichever your gear allows. Tune your spine first, your strings second.
